hi everyone!
hope everyone is enjoying the nice weather we've been having, iknow ihave!! track has been amazing, and my second semester has gotten better, with the exception of liking this one guy who turned out to be a total jerk, but thats a story for another day..my junior prom is on friday, and i'm really excited. tomorrow i'm getting my hair color done, and a mani-pedi, and then friday im getting hair and makeup!! yay! i'll post again soon and give a full recap! lol
ok, now onto a more serious subject. iwas in my english class on tuesday, and we were discussing a prevalent issue in the media at the moment. my english teacher brought up a group of Baptists who are harrassing people. they picketed a soldier's funeral with signs like "god hates soldiers" and "god's glad your son is dead"; basically, some really fucked up shit. that is a private affair, and noone has the right to doing anything of that magnitude in a private setting like that, although the first amendment states the whole "free speech, freedom of assembly, blah blah blah...."
now here's where it gets really messed up on a whole 'nother level..the family of the son who died in the war sued them, and they won 50,000 dollars. however, the baptists who picketed, went to a higher court system, and won the case, so that they dont have to pay the family, but the family has to pay them. how messed up is that? a family just lost their son, and you're picketing their funeral?!!! seriously, their minds have some wires that need to be reconnected. what really ticks me off is their website url ---------> godhatesfags.com
that is the most hurtful thing ihave ever seen. itook the liberty of going onto the website, Lord knows the hurtful things isaw on the webpage. it even has links to other websites like "God Hates the World," "America is Doomed," and what is the most perverted, "Priests Rape Boys."
i'm speechless. honestly ihave one question...How are the state and federal governments of the US not seeing the atrocity that this group is bringing to the nation. honestly, i think the Westboro Baptist Church is the most vile thing on the face of the earth. what they are doing is hurtful, and they should be ashamed. they may think that they are doing what their "confused minds" are telling them whats right to do, but really they are just causing more pain and suffering to those who have already experienced it enough!
as iclose my first rant, ijust wonder what the parents of these individuals are thinking about their child's actions. are they thinking, wow i'm proud of them, or are they thinking "you must be out of your goddamn mind to do something that stupid!"...ihonestly hope its the second one, but with the way the Westboro Baptist Church is acting, iblame the parents of the individuals, because they were the influence of their children that instilled these hateful beliefs on them..and not only that, ialso blame the parents of the leader of the WBC, because he is the reason for this ridiculous act of hatred.
